1. The “5-Second Rule” Value Proposition
Most visitors decide whether to stay or leave within five seconds. If they have to hunt for what you do, you’ve already lost them.
The Fix: Your “Above the Fold” (the area visible without scrolling) must answer three questions:
What do you offer?
How will it make the client’s life better?
How do they get it?
Audit Tip: Show your homepage to a stranger for five seconds, close the laptop, and ask them what you sell. If they can’t answer, your headline is too vague.
2. Frictionless “Call to Action” (CTA)
Vague buttons like “Learn More” or “Services” are passive. Clients want to be led. If your CTA isn’t obvious, they’ll take the path of least resistance: the “Back” button.
The Fix: Use high-contrast buttons with active language (e.g., “Book My Consultation,” “Get My Free Quote,” or “Start My Trial”).
The Rule of Two: Place one CTA in the top right header and another dead-center in your hero section.
3. Social Proof Beyond a “Testimonials” Page
Nobody clicks on a dedicated “Testimonials” page anymore—it feels like homework. If your glowing reviews are buried, they aren’t working for you.
The Fix: Sprinkle social proof throughout the user journey.
Logos: Feature “As Seen In” or “Clients We’ve Worked With” sections.
Contextual Quotes: Place a specific testimonial right next to the service it describes.
Micro-Data: Use phrases like “Joined by 500+ professionals” to build “safety in numbers.”
4. Mobile Optimization (The “Thumb Test”)
Over 50% of web traffic is mobile. If your site looks great on a desktop but requires “pinch-to-zoom” on a phone, you are actively pushing mobile users to your competitors.
The Fix: Ensure your site is responsive.
The Thumb Test: Can a user reach your primary CTA button with their thumb while holding the phone one-handed?
Speed: Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights. Mobile users won’t wait more than 3 seconds for a page to load.
5. A “Lead Magnet” for the “Not Ready Yet”
Most visitors aren’t ready to buy today. If your only option is “Contact Us,” you’re ignoring 90% of your traffic.
The Fix: Offer a “Low-Stakes” win in exchange for an email address.
Examples: A PDF checklist, a mini-video course, or an industry whitepaper.
The Goal: This allows you to nurture the relationship via email so that when they are ready to buy, you are the first person they think of.
